Waste of money |
| Good looking piece. But all three drawers open only halfway. This is bad enough for the "pencil" drawers. But for the file drawer, it is a disaster. Not only can you only use the front of the drawer, but the if the hanging files move to the back of the unit... good luck getting your files. |
High quality, low price |
| I was surprised when I opened the box at the quality of this solid wood piece of furniture. Its beautiful, sturdy, and very functional. It comes almost totally disassembled, and although the directions say that all you need is a phillips screwdriver to assemble, I strongly suggest a power drill/driver. From unpacking to fully assembled file cabinet took under an hour. I only have two minor complaints -- I would like to have the ability to adjust the alignment of the drawers (one didn't fit exactly right and I had to move one of the runners), and I wish this was available in a smaller letter size version, as opposed to legal. |
Great value for the price |
| I was looking for a mobile file cabinet because my new desk has no drawers. I was pleased to find this model, which has two smaller drawers as well as a file drawer. When it arrived, I was a little bit overwhelmed by all the pieces, but the instructions were pretty straightforward. From start to finish, assembly took me about 90-100 minutes, although it would have gone faster had I used a power drill instead of a manual Phillips screwdriver for the wood screws. I was impressed that this piece is 100% real wood with a nice oak finish -- not cheap laminate covering and cardboard backing like most others of comparable price. One tip for the first assembly step: Make sure you mount the first set of screws as straight as possible, or else it will throw off the structure of the entire cabinet! Fortunately, I was careful. It would be easy to mount the screws off-center, however, so beware. |
